Happy Birthday Neil

Rust Never Sleeps, still one of the top 10 concerts I’ve seen in my lifetime. Happy Birthday Neil Young – a bottomless talent of amazing, deep risk-taking music. One of the longest relevant careers in rock history and the wildest range of styles. 60s to 2010’s he never coasted or took the easy way out artistically. Not for everyone I guess, but that’s one of my favorite things about him.

Check out some of his lesser known music.

About This Letter to #AppleMusic from #TaylorSwift

It’s the perfect response.  Her message is polite, intelligent, rational and insistent.
I have had my serious falling out with Apple over music and equipment quality issues as detailed on this blog and my other pages. My issues are on the customer side.
Read Taylor’s Blog Post here.  It’s a spot on take regarding the artist side of the Apple Music controversies.

Read more in Rolling Stone.  I think AppleMusic is likely to succeed, but the Apple we all loved under Steve Jobs seems to be degenerating fast.

The Last Tolerated Bias ~ Ageism

~~ In the latest Rolling Stone, Madonna tackles the issue of age discrimination, which is pervasive in business and life for both women and men.  It’s definitely a widespread hidden bias in the nightlife/hospitality world where I work.  If someone continues to be as fit, creative and effective in show business or the nightlife world, why should it be OK to degrade or dismiss them due to age? Good question, and Madonna tackles it in her typical daring style ~~

“No one would dare to say a degrading remark about being black or dare to say a degrading remark on Instagram about someone being gay,” Madonna continues. “But my age – anybody and everybody would say something degrading to me. And I always think to myself, why is that accepted? What’s the difference between that and racism, or any discrimination? They’re judging me by my age. I don’t understand. I’m trying to get my head around it. Because women, generally, when they reach a certain age, have accepted that they’re not allowed to behave a certain way. But I don’t follow the rules. I never did, and I’m not going to start.”

~~ Read more here in Rolling Stone and watch the video of Madonna’s interview.  I say Bravo Madonna.  Age is only important in wines and cheeses.

~~ Have a great week and stay ageless my friends — TTBG

Rolling Stone Says It No Longer Trusts Woman in Gang Rape Account

Wow. I guess those old inconvenient principles of “evidence,” “due process,” and “innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt,” are still the best policies.

I’m a long time fan of Rolling Stone but when reporting you don’t “trust” people, you always verify and think critically!

TIME

The magazine that published a detailed account of a gang rape at the University of Virginia said Friday that it no longer considers the woman behind the story to be a reliable source.

Rolling Stone‘s vivid depiction of a gang rape suffered by a woman it called “Jackie” at a fraternity house drew national headlines and renewed conversations about sexual assault on college campuses. The magazine apologized to readers about the story Friday.

“In the face of new information, there now appear to be discrepancies in Jackie’s account, and we have come to the conclusion that our trust in her was misplaced,” managing editor Will Dana wrote in a note to readers.

MORE: No police investigation yet in UVA rape case

The story has come under growing scrutiny after its author acknowledged not contacting the men accused of wrongdoing.

“We were trying to be sensitive to the unfair shame…
